ChatDPE — Kneeboard · Now in TestFlight

The oral,
out loud.

An AI designated pilot examiner asks FAA ACS-aligned questions out loud. You answer by voice. It probes like a real DPE — then marks what was satisfactory, and what to study.

Private, Instrument, and Commercial. Commercial ASEL is the most complete. No account needed. Not yet on the App Store.

You're planning a cross-country this afternoon to Redmond. Walk me through what changed your go / no-go.

Your mic — finish a sentence, then it follows up.

Examiner speaking — word by word, like the real oral

How it works

Ask. Answer.
Get marked.

  1. 01

    The examiner asks

An AI designated pilot examiner opens an ACS task and asks out loud — weather, systems, go / no-go, the same pressure as the real room.

  2. 02

    You answer out loud

Talk like you will on checkride day. Follow-up probes land when an answer is thin, just like a DPE who is not done with you yet.

  3. 03

    Every answer gets marked

The red pen checks what was satisfactory. The highlighter marks what to study. You leave with a debrief, not a vibe.

The debrief

A marked-up sheet.
Not a score you cannot use.

After the oral, ChatDPE hands you the kneeboard version of a DPE debrief: what held up, what did not, and which ACS elements to reopen before the real checkride.

Cross-Country Flight Planning

  • Red pen for what you nailed

Satisfactory knowledge tasks get the examiner’s check — drawn in, not shrugged off.

  • Highlighter for what to study

Thin answers and missed ACS elements get a yellow sweep so tonight’s session has a target.

Questions

A short oral on the product itself.

What is ChatDPE?

An iOS app that runs a voice-first AI mock checkride oral. An AI designated pilot examiner asks FAA ACS-aligned questions out loud, you answer by voice, it follows up like a real DPE, and you get a marked-up debrief.

Is it on the App Store yet?

Not yet. ChatDPE is in TestFlight. Join the waitlist and we will email you when the public listing is live. The App Store badge on this page becomes a store link as soon as that URL is configured.

Which certificates does it cover?

Private, Instrument, and Commercial. Commercial ASEL is the most complete today. CFI is on the roadmap — you can still pick it on the waitlist so we know what you are working toward.

Do I need an account?

No. The iOS app does not require an account to sit a mock oral.

Is ChatDPE affiliated with the FAA?

No. ChatDPE is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the Federal Aviation Administration, a designated pilot examiner, or a certified flight instructor. ACS materials are used for study alignment only.

What do you do with my waitlist email?

We use it to tell you when ChatDPE is on the App Store, and optionally to add you to a Resend audience so that list survives deploys. We do not sell waitlist addresses. Product analytics (PostHog) never receive the email as an event property. See the privacy page for the short version.

Does this replace a CFI or a real DPE?

No. It is rehearsal for the oral — so the first time you say the answer out loud is not in the examiner’s office.
